EnduringMind, Day on the River Twickenham

Welcome. I'm Greg.

If you're thinking of taking that first step towards counselling, then you may want to know more about me as a counsellor. My journey  began long before my training as a therapist at Metanoia Institute. I have lived and travelled across the globe, as a working professional in local communities, lecturing, teaching and observing people's cultures as an anthropologist.

As a counsellor at Counselling Twickenham and Whitton, I have drawn on a wealth of personal experience. Like most people, life has presented me with its challenges and learning how to live with them, has been both rewarding and painful. I believe that going through my own struggles, has forged a deeper appreciation of other people's dificu in all their complexity and diversity. If I have learned anything it is how vulnerable we all are, and I am no exception. And yet, we endure and we are strong. We have incredible emotional resilience and the capacity to survive in the most difficult circumstances.

Throughout my life I've been profoundly affected by my encounters with people. I feel privileged as a counsellor. The clients I meet have all left their mark, as I witness their triumphs and despair. I am captivated by the interior lives of human beings and the cultures in which they thrive. The most profound insight I've had is to realise how extraordinary we all are, even as we live out ordinary lives. Being a counsellor has been a great levelling experience for me, as I realise how much we all share in common. I believe that's why clients find me understanding and approachable. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can work through your issues in an atmosphere of trust & confidentiality.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked at inner cities schools, universities and communities around the world. It has given me a broader perspective on life, as I lived among people in Africa, Brazil, India and Papua New Guinea. For a period I worked with botanists and plant hunters in Kew Gardens. I have trained counsellors at Saint Mary's University and worked in adult mental health services. During my training I cut my teeth as a counsellor and psychotherapist at MIND. I was the first male counsellor at Portsmouth Rape Crisis Service.

I now work in private practice at Twickenham Counselling, EnduringMind (counselling in Hounslow, Isleworth and Teddington areas). I have around 14 years experience. I train people in mindfulness and self-awareness and I see my work as a calling. I aim to help people heal their pain and move towards freedom and independence. I offer a humanistic approach to therapy, which:

  • values the unique qualities and experiences of each human being

  • respects the autonomy of individuals to choose their own path in life

  • helps people to achieve this through a process of collaboration

It has been my privilege to work in this area with different client groups: ages, genders, ethnicities, religions and social backgrounds. It took five years training (Masters Degree) and many thousands of hours with clients and supervision before I qualified. Training took place at the prestigious Metanoia Institute in Ealing learning counselling theory & practice. I now run my private practice at EnduringMind. I'm an accredited member of UKCP and abide by its code of ethics. At Twickenham counselling and therapy centre, EnduringMind I offer counselling in Twickenham, Whitton, Hampton, Isleworth and Teddington areas.
